Applications are now open for the UN Nippon Foundation Training Program 2025 in Hamburg, Germany. This is a fully funded, 9-month training program designed for professionals from developing countries who are engaged in ocean affairs, maritime law, and dispute settlement under the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).

Nationality: Must be from a developing country Age: Between 25 and 40 years old Education: A law degree with demonstrated research experience Professional Background:
- Junior to mid-level government officials working in ocean affairs/maritime law OR
- Researchers specializing in maritime legal issues Research Proposal: Must submit a research proposal relevant to their country’s UNCLOS implementation (Part XV) Nomination: Must be officially nominated, with an explanation of how the training will benefit their institution or country Language Proficiency:
- Fluency in English or French (English is the primary language of instruction)
- Working knowledge of the second language is preferred
